2018 Evansville Streets Alive! Festival
The 7th Annual “Evansville Streets Alive!” festival, Sunday, June 3, 2018, at Garvin Park was a great success!
About Evansville Streets Alive! Festival
Evansville Streets Alive! is a car-free festival that will close Garvin park to vehicle traffic to create a community space for people to walk, dance, bike, skate, play games, make music and enjoy great fun with family and friends. The festival in the park will have free admission for everyone, and has been our policy since Streets Alive! began seven years ago. It’s truly a ‘quality of life’ event for our community and it wouldn’t be possible without your participation.
Last year’s event attracted a crowd estimated at 6,000 people. There were more than 50 activities, including water zorb balls in the park’s lake, roller skating, surrey bikes for families to ride together, golf cart tours of the Greenway, walk-a-dog booths, a variety of games and dances.
We’ll start with a ribbon-cutting with Mayor Lloyd Winnecke for North Main’s new pedestrian/bicycle path. In keeping with the street’s people-focused design, the parade will be for people walking, skating, riding bicycles and tricycles and unicycles, wagons and wheelchairs and other wheels without motors and will begin at Division Street down North Main Street and end at Garvin Park. Prizes will be awarded for best entries and costumes! We invite you and your organization to be one of the fun-makers – and to also participate in the parade!
BOSSE FIELD IS HOSTING THE EVANSVILLE FOOD TRUCK FESTIVAL
Garvin Park's Bosse Field will be filled with more than 20+ vendors for the Food Truck Festival from noon to 7 p.m. (Visit the Food Truck Festival Webpage HERE). There will be an admission fee for that area only; however, we have arranged for free passes for some families, and we’ll have four non-profit food vendors in the park as well.
Our activity partners make Evansville Streets Alive! one of the most unique events in the city. Businesses and nonprofit agencies, as well as youth groups and musicians, can participate in Streets Alive! with activities such as dance lessons, old-fashioned sack races, yoga and Tai Chi classes, basketball games, obstacle courses, cross-fit activities and scavenger hunts.
We invite you to become part of the Evansville Streets Alive! TEAM by hosting an activity! Apply to host an activity by completing an Activity Leader Application.
To receive the Activity Leader Application, please contact Roberta Heiman at (812) 454-6785 or email@example.com.
We’re proud of the community and business support of Streets Alive! in the past and we invite your organization to help continue our efforts with a corporate sponsorship. There are four sponsor levels to choose from with unique sponsor benefits, including special attractions, sponsors, or hosting your very own activity!
Evansville Streets Alive! is hosted by the Evansville-area Trails Coalition (ETC) and ECHO Housing Corporation. Our goal since we began seven years ago has been to fund the festival entirely with corporate sponsorships so that Streets Alive! will continue to be a free event for everyone.
